Eligibiltiy
Treatment at KFSH&RC is reserved for patients whose conditions require the specialized care we provide. This page explains who is eligible, how we review cases, and how to apply.
who we treat
KFSH&RC treats conditions that require highly specialized care and cannot be treated at other hospitals. Examples include organ transplant surgery, certain cancers, and rare or complex genetic and inherited conditions. Priority for acceptance is always given to complex cases.
Secondary cases - those that don’t meet the complexity threshold - may be accepted depending on hospital capacity, and whether an approved financial payer is in place. Secondary cases are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
how we review
Every application is reviewed by a dedicated medical committee. The committee looks at three things:
1. Whether the treatment you need is available at KFSH&RC
2. Whether the hospital has the capacity to provide that care
3. Whether the referring hospital is unable to treat the condition
If all three are met, your case is accepted for further financial review.
